OpenSea has struck a partnership with Perplexity Computer that pipes its live on-chain market data directly into the AI agent platform, covering more than 25 blockchains. The company shared the announcement with crypto.news on 27 August, describing it as part of a broader shift away from a pure NFT marketplace toward a multi-asset trading platform.

The connector is already live and can be found on Perplexity Computer's Connectors page. For European holders and traders who rely on AI tools to track fast-moving crypto markets, the integration means queries routed through Perplexity Computer can now draw on real-time data from OpenSea rather than static or delayed sources.

OpenSea co-founder and chief executive Devin Finzer framed the deal as a natural fit between blockchain markets and AI systems. "On-chain markets are built for AI agents. Everything is open, live, and verifiable," he said. He added that the value lies in the freshness of the underlying data: "Those answers come directly from real market activity, not from stale data or guesses."

Jeff Graimes, speaking for the partnership, made a similar point about the pace of on-chain trading. "On-chain markets move too fast for static answers to be enough," he said, adding that users querying the connector "get a current, verified answer based on actual market activity."

Part of a wider platform push

The Perplexity tie-up follows a string of moves by OpenSea to expand well beyond its NFT roots. The company's OS2 platform launched supporting 19 blockchains, a figure the new AI connector has already surpassed. In June, crypto.news reported that OpenSea was preparing a perpetuals trading product, which OpenSea's Zach Brenner later confirmed on X would be powered by Hyperliquid.

OpenSea also acquired Rally Wallet in July 2025 and announced an AI-powered mobile product in September 2025, both signalling an effort to broaden its product suite for retail users navigating multiple chains and asset types.

That expansion has not been without friction. OpenSea first unveiled plans for a SEA token in February 2025, but in March 2026 the company postponed the launch. Finzer cited difficult market conditions at the time, and OpenSea has not given a new timeline for when the token might launch.

For now, the Perplexity integration stands as OpenSea's clearest bet that AI-driven discovery, rather than token incentives, will be what keeps users engaged with its markets across dozens of chains.
