DOT, the native token of Polkadot, fell by around 9.9% over the past 24 hours after the Polkadot Community Foundation warned that a security breach had exposed sensitive user data through manipulated versions of the Fearless Wallet browser extension. The foundation said attackers had access for roughly 20 months.

Four affected versions of the extension, for both Chrome and Firefox, were identified. The foundation said at least 17,286 DOT have been stolen so far as a result of the breach. Mobile applications for Android and iOS are considered unaffected and safe to use, according to the foundation.

For DOT holders across Europe, many of whom rely on browser-based wallet extensions for staking and governance participation within the Polkadot ecosystem, the disclosure raises immediate questions about exposure and the handling of affected credentials.

The token's market reaction was swift. DOT/USD closed at $1.06, down from roughly $1.177 a day earlier. Over the last six four-hour candles, the pair ranged between a high of $1.195 and a low of $1.055. Polkadot's market capitalisation stood at approximately $1.81 billion.

Technical picture turns cautious

Price action has pushed DOT below its 20-period exponential moving average, now at $1.12, which analysts treat as the first resistance on any recovery attempt, with $1.20 marking recent interim highs above that. The first support zone sits at $1.05 to $1.06. The relative strength index reads around 38.5, while Bollinger Band width stands at roughly $0.151.

Should DOT reclaim the EMA-20 on rising volume, upside targets of $1.20 to $1.30 are seen as plausible. A break below $1.05, on the other hand, opens the way toward $0.90.

Three scenarios are outlined for the coming period. A neutral path, assigned a 30% probability, would see DOT trade sideways between $1.06 and $1.14, invalidated if price falls below $1.02. A bullish path, given 25% probability, targets $1.30 on a breakout above $1.20 resistance, invalidated below $1.00.

The bearish scenario is considered the most likely, at 45% probability, with targets of $0.99 to $0.90 if the $1.05 support gives way and the RSI drops below 35. This scenario would be invalidated only by a sustained reclaim of $1.20.
